As an international destination, Monterey Bay attracts divers and travellers from all over the world. Many come to see this unique and beautiful environment of kelp forest and marine mammals. From Point Lobos to The Breakwater, MBDC can offer the local expertise of our Divemasters and Instructors - many of whom are biology and marine science majors. All of our guides are certified to at least Divemaster and hold professional dive industry credentials. One of the most popular dive sites here is Point Lobos just south of Carmel. Run by the State Parks Department, Point Lobos is a gorgeous wildlife reserve at the ocean's edge. Historic Whaler's Cove is the entry zone for no more than 20 dive teams per day. During the week it is usually easy to get reservations but weekends require some advance planning.
San Carlos Beach is directly adjacent to the shop and considered a mecca for training scuba divers. The Breakwater wall is an interesting dive site both in the day and at night. The world-famous Metridum giganteum Fields can be accessed from here as well. McAbee Beach up on Old Cannery Row is another traditional Monterey dive site. Playful harbor seals are the attraction so bring your camera and be prepared to play. Other shore diving options may include Lover's Point and Otter Cove in Pacific Grove. We can also arrange a Divemaster to accompany you on our dive boat. For a small upgrade fee, you can have an experienced professional guide you at off-shore sites around Carmel and Monterey.
