Underwater Videography

Underwater Videography is a unique specialty which requires additional training above and beyond Open Water certification. Unlike terrestrial movie making, under water work requires the filmmaker to be proficient in a number of different skills, including diving, which are unique to the aquatic environment.
In addition to technical equipment knowledge and familiarization, under water videographers must also practice and perfect advanced level diving skills such as buoyancy control, breathing technique, deep diving, night diving, and navigation. Some divers will already have accomplished some or all of this training and will be ready to begin. Others will require additional concurrent training in those basic skills.

A great way for Open Water Divers to begin videography training is through the Advanced Open Water course and choose videography as one of your Adventure Dives. During or after completion of your advanced training you can finish your PADI UW Videography Specialty certification at a reduced rate.
